Home at Last

it was so nice to come home from the hospital yesterday. my wonderful parents are keeping the kids one more night for us and i figured i should take advantage to record our newest baby's birth. once the other two come home... we'll be trying to adjust to our new baby.

(the weather when we arrived at the hospital. much different than the weather we left to go home)

we went in for a scheduled inducement on monday morning, april 13th. dane was suppose to leave for a business trip for work on thursday and we thought it would be nice if he didn't miss the birth. dane really liked having it scheduled. i have yet to decide. the nice thing was that it was fast, but it was very intense. dane was a great support person. i think i received my pitocin around 10:30 am and my doctor broke my water shortly after.

(waiting for the pitocin to kick in)

since my 36th week appointment i had been dialated at a one. my body never seems to dilate beforehand for me. by noon i was a four. since the first contraction started they were about a minute to two minutes apart. they got stronger a lot quicker. around 1:15 i was in a lot of pain and wondered if i was even progressing. i told dane if i wasn't an eight by then, i wanted my epidural. my nurse told me i was a five, so i told her i wanted my drugs! the drug doc came in and by 1:40 i finally felt relief. my nurse was putting the catheter in when she looked up shocked. she told me the baby was already coming out. she ran to get my doctor and they quickly set up the bed and three pushes later our little girl popped out. i think they have the time down at 1:59 pm.

she weighed 6 lbs. 11 oz. and 19 1/2 inches long. she is our biggest baby so far. both ani and bray were 5 lbs. 11 and 5 lbs. 13.

now...what everyone has been waiting for. i think we have received many texts asking us if we decided on her name yet. she did not have a name until we left the hospital. we even postponed leaving because dane was still thinking. our nurse actually told him while we were leaving that he could call her up until 6:30 that night and she would change it for him if he changed his mind. he actually did call her and had her change it to the other name and then called her back ten minutes later to tell her he wanted it switched back.

her name is...

Kaylin Keaheahemalie Emika Ing

the hawaiian name was given by my uncle. it means calm, peaceful breeze or another translation could be soft as a whisper. my hawaiian name has two translations also. soft as a whisper or sweet voice (no, i don't sing). ani's hawaiian name is another variation of the sweet voice. see the pattern. they are named after me. lucky girls.

Emika was a suggestion given by my cousin's wife, Misako. she sent a lot of suggestions and this is the one dane chose. we are thinking of actually calling her mika. i think it translates into a blessing or to bless others.

Kaylin was the name dane really struggled with. he also liked Ashley and couldn't decide between the two.

anyone who knows dane, knows that he puts a lot of thought into EVERYTHING. i think he did a great job figuring her name out. it's nice to have something to call her now. i finally started calling her ani at the hospital because she reminded me of her.

yes..ani has a black-eye but she loves her little sis

Oh Leo, she is absolutly adorable! I love the name too. I am glad Dane got it figured out :) Glad you made it home safely in the yucky weather. That video of Ani is hilarious! I hope you guys get adjusted quickly. Let me know if you need anything. Take care and congrats again!

Ok, I love the videos. She was so calm in the nursery, so I think you got her Hawaiian name right...it suits her. And the one with Ani is classic. Well, at least she'll be a good helper.

Dane did a good job with the name. Mika is cute...I think she looks like a Mika.

It's good to hear you're both well. Take care and enjoy your first days together.

Props to you for letting Dane name her. I don't think I could give up that much control. She looks beautiful. Glad all went well.

Glad Dane put so much thought into the name, just like an Ing man. Mike picked K's name too, he struggled with the spelling. We have to love our Ing men. ;)
