Cali Trip

BEWARE: Extra Long Post

a couple weeks ago we decided we needed a break from all the cold and snow. we went to visit some family and attend kayla's second birthday party.

SAN DIEGO

we flew into san diego first and went to visit maile, t, and britty. we got to stay at their new place which is really nice. the kids had so much fun playing with their cousin. maile is a big fan of dora and ani has this dora back pack that you pull. ani wouldn't let her touch it. i wish i got a picture of them with it.

dane got to see a friend, ethan, from colleg. he hasn't seen him since we first got married. we had dinner with him twice...yummy food and lots of laughs.

SEA WORLD

we loved sea world. i think dane & i loved it as much as the kids. their shows were so entertaining. bray came home wanting to learn the signs for whale, seal, dolphin, and shark. papa & gramma pane'e gave the kids money before we left to buy souvenirs in the gift shops. bray chose a big shamu & ani got a shirt.

the day was a little overcast. we came prepared with ponchos, umbrellas, and jackets, but it wasn't too bad. it stopped raining once we got there which was perfect. the place was almost empty.

dane & i rode atlantis. we wore a poncho and wrapped one around us. we really didn't want to get wet. it was a great ride. we were waving to bray so we look cheesy in this pic.

HEADING NORTH
on saturday we left san diego and stayed in mission viejo with my aunty janice & uncle ron. thank you so much t, britty, & maile girl. we loved staying with you guys. we appreciate everything you did for us. we will be back since we have our season pass to sea world. we can't wait to come again!
saturday was a REALLY nice day in san diego. we drove up to mission viego where my aunty and uncle live. it was a little cooler there. we had to put the kids back into pants and jackets. my aunty and uncle renovated their entire house. it looks so nice. they did a great job. aunty janice took us for some delicious saimin. it was perfect for the weather and the kids loved it too.
LOS ALAMITOS
that night the kids got to see maile one last time at gramma charlene's house. we got to visit with all the lee family. we had very yummy hawaiian food. i'm getting hungry for it just thinking about it. AND they had so many toys! the kids were so excited. thanks so much for sharing your toys thomas!

KAYLA'S PARTY
kayla's birthday party was the reason we first started thinking about going to cali. she turned two this year. they also had great food and the best balloon guy i've ever seen. the kids loved it.

DISNEYLAND
i thought the anticipation of going to disneyland was going to kill bray. he asked us every day if that was the day we were going to disneyland. it was starting to drive us crazy. he couldn't sleep the night before we went. we wanted to be there as soon as they opened the doors. we thought it would be hard to get up and going so early but we were wrong. we were waiting around to go and finally decided to just walk around and wait there. the day was super nice & sunny. bray was shocked when i told him he could wear shorts & a t-shirt. thanks to tam & kev's friend dane & i got in for free! thank you tam & kev for hooking us up.

LAST DAY
the last day we were there was kayla's actual birthday. it was another beautiful day. aunty & uncle were nice enough to watch the kids while i went for a run & dane biked. the scenery was great and it was actually getting hot towards the end. it didn't help that they live in a very hilly area. i was pretty tired.
we had brunch at ihop then said our goodbyes to kev & kayla.

i'm pretty sure the next time we see kayla she will probably be heavier than bray. possibly taller too.
we had a couple hours till our flight and we did some sigh seeing. we took a boat ride (actually a ferry) at balboa island. aunty & uncle promised us a real boat ride when we make it out there again. we just didn't have time during this trip.
Photobucket
we went to huntington beach next (i think). we walked along the boardwalk and along the pier. it was pretty windy on the pier but we enjoyed watching the people surfing, playing volleyball, and men fishing off the pier.

we had an early dinner by the beach at dukes. then we rushed to the long beach airport to catch our flight. man, that is probably the tiniest airport i've seen. we were pretty sad to leave cali. thank you aunty janice & uncle ron for taking us all over the place and letting our kids destroy your house :). we always have so much fun with you guys.
ok, well that was our trip. phew! dane has been reminding me every day that i need to put up the pictures. it's alot, sorry.

How fun! We have flown into Long Beach a few times cause Jet Blue tickets are a great deal but yes the airport is very small and ghetto too!

how fun! I can't wait until Noelle gets a little older so we can take her to Disneyland one day. I love the San Diego temple. It is so beautiful! I served in San Diego for my mission and even got to give walking tours of the temple. We are planning to come to Utah in June to hopefully we can all get together!

Okay, so we want to know where your family gets their energy? Wow, you guys were everywhere in Cali.! How much fun is that? We love Disneyland! Rett and I went there for our honeymoon. Ha,ha,ha what can we say we're young at heart. Well, Mrs. Leo, about the training schedule...what training schedule? j/k I honestly take it slow in the beginning to avoid injury. I start the first two weeks running 3 miles, then increase 3 more miles the next two weeks. Running X-country has taught me two things: 1. never over exert myself, 2. Stick with trail running as much as possible (pavement wrecks your knees). I keep that schedule up until the day of the race. I also remember to do weight training, it helps your joints and bones. It's also great to follow a good runner's diet: no fast food, strictly water, lots of chicken/fish (protein), and veggies, red meat (sparingly). It makes such a big difference when I run. Okay, although I have never reached marathon level running (marathons scare me, I don't know if they're healthy) I just keep to this schedule and it helps me out a lot. I hope that helps a little. Well, good luck with the Wasatch run, you're awesome and I'm sure you'll do amazingly! Love ya, Mer :o)
