(our new tent)
This past weekend we went camping. This is the first time we have taken Brayden (and ani) camping. The last time Dane and I went camping was right before I got pregnant. It was about time we introduced Brayden to campfires, roasting marshmallows, insect repellant, and sleeping in a tent. The Washington, Goo, Tanaka, Pane'e, and Wunder Family joined us for our camping trip.(sitting around the campfire)
We went to a place up in Hobble Creek Canyon. It is right above Hobble Creek Golf Course. Yes, the guys were tempted to go golfing, but it was a family camping trip and we did things together as a family. Even if it was Father's Day weekend.
We all arrived at different times on Friday. Some ate at home before coming, others cooked their food up there. That night James made us a delicious peach cobbler dessert in the dutch oven and we made smores. We stayed up late talking and reminiscing about the college days.
That night, it was pretty cold and both kids ended up sleeping with us. Ani with me in my sleeping bag and Brayden in with Dane.
(ghetto! sliding on garbage bags)
It warmed up during the day and the younger kids played in the kiddie pool while the older kids enjoyed the river and sliding down the dam. It was pretty hot, actually. After Lunch the Goo and Washington Family headed home.

Since it was so hot the kids couldn't take naps in the tent. Both the Tanaka's and Wunder's went for a drive so the kids could nap in air conditioned cars. They both brought us back popsicles which tasted so good.
Both the Owan's and my mom came to visit that night. My mom brought up some fried chicken and rice but we had already had our dinner. We did enjoy the ice cream sandwiches she also brought with her. The guys played two-on-two volleyball and then we tried getting the kids down earlier. Jo and Amanda made us some yummy scones with honey butter and we sat around the fire again, just relaxing and talking story.
(father's day breakfast)
Since Sunday morning was Father's Day, we made french toast, eggs, and bacon. We also had croissants, watermelon, grapes, and rice. I think we made enough food for a couple more families to join us. We had a lot of fun this weekend. The hardest part of camping is cleaning, washing everything, and putting it all away.

Happy Father's Day to my wonderful husband! We hope he had a great day. Bray and Ani just love their daddy and are so lucky to have them as their father.
